​Iraya-Mangyan products join DOT’s ‘Countdown to Christmas’

Handwoven bags and baskets from Talipanan, Mindoro are featured in Department of Tourism ‘s “Countdown to Christmas: Celebrating the Regions,” a three-month long fair showcasing the best of the Philippines. This yearly showcase, which began September 21 and will last until December 18, is held at the DOT office along Gil Puyat Ave. and is open to the public.

With its focus on community-based eco-tourism (CBET), this year’s fair hopes to bring a different kind of holiday to buyers and travelers.

The opening of the MIMAROPA exhibit was held last Oct 12. Dubbed Masayang, Maligayang, Romaragasang Pasko, the opening was attended by DOT Undersecretary Ma Victoria Jasmin, DOT Assistant Secretary Arturo Boncato, Jr, DOT MIMAROPA Regional Director Minerva Aldaba Morada, Puerto Galera Mayor Hon. Hubbert Christopher Dolor, and Her Excellency Patricia Zobel, Honorary Consul to Monaco.​

DOT’s Countdown to Christmas​ is open Mondays to Fridays at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Featured regions include: Southern Luzon (October 5-16), Mindanao (October 19-30), Northern Luzon (November 3-13), Visayas (November 16-27), and One Philippines: All Regions (November 30-December 18).
