DSWD, AFI partner for sustainable livelihood
Ayala Foundation Inc. (AFI) formalized its partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as it sets forth with its latest program under sustainable livelihood. The partnership was sealed in a memorandum of agreement signed on March 25.
AFI supports the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program by bringing micro-enterprise and skills-development opportunities through the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (PPPP). AFI also seeks to introduce sustainable livelihood programs in a number of target areas: Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Mindoro, Palawan, Taguig, Tondo, and Quezon City.
“We see private sector goals aligned with those of government, to bring about gainful employment and diversified income not only to vulnerable communities but to entrepreneurial communities as well,” said Luli Heras-de Leon, president of Ayala Foundation, during the MOA signing.
The DSWD welcomed new partnerships under its sustainable livelihood program, adding that these ventures provide a clearer path toward inclusive growth in the country. The welfare department is exploring new ways to provide more livelihood and employment opportunities for over 5 million Filipinos in the country currently living below the poverty line.
The DSWD’s PPP program takes a three-pronged approach: conditional cash transfer, community-driven employment, and sustainable livelihood programs.
“We are your partners in ensuring to make prosperous communities,” said DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman. The partnership between the DSWD and its partner organizations hopes to achieve more self-sufficient, healthy, educated, and gainfully employed communities and households.
