Macquarie and Ayala Foundation run for education

Early morning of January 24, over 1,000 runners pounded down the lanes of the Makati Central Business District as they ran for education.

This was Macquarie’s 3rd Charity Fun Run, an annual activity that contributes to Ayala Foundation’s Center of Excellence in Public Elementary Education (CENTEX) Schools in Tondo, Manila and Bauan, Batangas.

This year, there were 1,200 runners who registered for the 3k, 5k, 10k, and kiddie runs. The amount raised will help CENTEX’s projects, particularly the nutrition/feeding program, as well as student enrichment program and after hours music program. The funds will also help support the annual teacher training held every October.

Medals were given to top finishers in all events. Ayala companies such as Globe, Ayala Land, and Integrated Micro Electronics, Inc. also provided raffle prizes.

Present at the event were Ayala Foundation President Ruel T. Maranan and Macquarie Off-Shore Services officials, Executive Director Tim Mulvihill and Division Director Rosemary Hannah, Division Director.

In the previous years, funds from the Macquarie run have contributed to building the CENTEX Batangas school library and to improving teacher effectiveness through the foundation’s training program.
