Eco Defenders puppet show premieres at Market! Market!

9/8/2008 | Ayala Foundation

To celebrate Environment Month last June, Bonifacio Global City unveiled at Market! Market! the puppet-show version of "Eco Defenders versus Global Warming," a superhero story that teaches kids the value of protecting the environment. In the same event, Bonifacio Global City was named home of the Eco Defenders Club.

A project of the Sustainable Energy Development Program (SEDP) of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), "Eco Defenders versus Global Warming" started as a 60-second cinema ad promoting the "3 Rs" (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), water conservation, and energy efficiency. It featured such characters as Water Buster, Water Warrior, and Switch Ninja to attract the attention of young viewers.

"Eco Defenders" also became an illustrated book for children, and recently, it was turned into a play, which toured with the Ayala Recyclables Fair last June. Among the places where the play was performed were Paseo de Magallanes and Goldcrest in Makati, Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa, and Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

The Bonifacio Global City Environment Month celebration was made possible by the Bonifacio Estate Services Corporation, Ayala Foundation, USAID-SEDP, Department of Energy, Philippine Efficient Lighting Market Transformation Project, Manila Electric Company, and E-Artishop. Other sponsors were Krispy Kreme and Refresh of Universal Robina Corporation.
