One with Sulu, a campaign that seeks to uplift the state of education and livelihood in Sulu, was launched on November 6, with an exhibit and a documentary screening at Greenbelt 3, Ayala Center, Makati City.

One with Sulu was borne out of the partnership between the Philippine Marine Corps and the Tausug community, supported by private sector volunteers and organizations and movements such as Ayala Foundation, Ayala Malls, Bayanihang Pampaaralan, Beam Toothpaste, Black Pencil Project, Deecon Builders, Globe Telecom, Fisherfarms, Feedmix, Foster Foods Inc., FunGames, Juan Portrait, Klasrums ng Pag-Asa, La Filipina, Matawkasi, Mindanao Grains Processing Co., Inc., Nautilus Divers, Philippine Marine Corps, PowerMac Center, Premier Cement, Pride Laundry Detergent, Sultanate of Patikul, Sulu Photograpeace, TEN Moves, Tibuuk Lupah Sug Network, and WeLovePost.

During the event, Ayala Foundation introduced two major initiatives—the implementation of Text2Teach in Sulu, and a crowd-funding campaign to establish sustainable livelihood projects for Tausug families.

Together with member organizations of the Text2Teach alliance (Department of Education, Nokia, Globe Telecom, Pearson Foundation, Toshiba, and local government units), Ayala Foundation is implementing Text2Teach in 10 public elementary schools in Patikul, Sulu. Text2Teach provides multimedia educational materials in English, Math, Science, and Values Education through mobile technology.

Ayala Foundation also launched a crowd-funding campaign for Tausug families in Sulu. This campaign, which runs at thesparkproject.com until December, aims to raise at least PhP200,000. This will fund the foundation’s sustainable livelihood initiatives for poor families in the area.
