Philippine Science High School to have solar panels, with the help of Ayala Foundation
Ayala, through its social development arm Ayala Foundation, continues to affirm its commitment to education and innovation by assisting the Philippine Science High School (PSHS), the country’s premier institution for secondary science-driven education, in transporting and installing solar panels for its main campus in Quezon City.
The solar panels, donated by the California-based Renewable Energy Testing Center, will be installed on the rooftop of the Advanced Science and Technology Building of the PSHS Main Campus.
The solar panel donation was facilitated by the PSHS Alumni Batch 1985, and the Philippine Science High School Foundation. The funds provided by Ayala Foundation for the transport and installation of the solar panels amounted to PhP1.5 million.
The ceremonial signing of the agreement was held at Ayala Tower One in Makati City. Present during the signing were Ayala Foundation President Ruel T. Maranan, Ayala Chief Financial Officer Jose Teodoro Limcaoco, PSHS QC Campus Director Virginia Andres, PSHS Foundation Vice President Hector Guballa, and Maria Lourdes Dario from PSHS Batch 1985.
By installing the solar panels, PSHS targets the reduction of its electrical consumption and the use of cleaner energy throughout its campus.
The savings from the reduced consumption will be redirected to the PSHS Research Fund for promising and deserving student research projects.
The support of the PSHS Research Fund reinforces AFI and PSHS’s dedication to enabling gifted students to pursue a future in science and technology.
